Solar Eclipse Chart Analysis for February 15, 2018

On the right is the horoscope chart for the February 15, 2018 Solar Eclipse set for Washington, DC, USA. In it we can see that the eclipse occurs in late Aquarius (the Sun and Moon are at 27 Aquarius) and that it is a partial eclipse, since the South Node is more than 7 degrees away from the New Moon. Adding to the 'exotic-ness' of this eclipse is the sextile from Uranus, which rules Aquarius. Anything humanitarian-focused, inventive, experimental, electrical, and somewhat unfriendly to human emotional needs is accentuated and strengthened by this eclipse. This eclipse theme is a perfect home for 'metaphysical mad scientists', if there exist such people, and 'mad scientists' in general. There will be winners and losers in the events happening around this eclipse time. Where damages occur, there will be time and energy to pick up the pieces later.

Sun conjunct Moon: This is the aspect of the New Moon, which occurs every month. The Sun represents wants, goals, and ego. The Moon represents our deepest needs for security and nurturing. When these two bodies are aligned, tremendous energy is available for creating what we most desire and need. Thus, New Moons represent new beginnings and fresh starts. When the New Moon is an eclipse, then there are usually extenuating factors that are driving people towards solutions they must have. Sometimes these circumstances appear as crises, but other times they might just represent overwhelming success at previous ventures, causing the need to accommodate the abundant fruits of success. The needs and desires that are being addressed can best be determined by looking at the sign and house that the New Moon occurs in. On February 15, 2018, the New Moon -Solar Eclipse occurs in Aquarius, at 27 Aquarius 08. There is a strongly humanitarian bent to the themes of this eclipse. Personal emotions and needs are set aside for now to accommodate the needs of the larger community, as we perceive them. This is a great time to work on big picture projects and inventions that we've had on the back burner for some time. Efforts made now on group themes and larger community themes will have their effects felt for at least the next six months.

Venus sextile Saturn: Duty and faithfulness undergird loving relationships. Where there is mutual love or easy and deep social rapport, mutual responsibilities and loyalties are easily maintained.

Mercury sextile Uranus: We think quickly, our thoughts and conversations seem inspired, and we only want to think for ourselves. We have a harder time than usual accepting other people's knowledge and opinions. Some people seem to be brilliantly guided by their intuitions. People come up with perfect answers and unusual, out-of-the-box solutions more frequently than usual. It can seem hard to follow routines and procedures, since we prefer to act from a place that's inspired.

Mars square Neptune: People prefer to chase dreams and fantasies rather than attend to the mundane realities of ordinary life. It's easy to fall into escapist activities. At times we may surprisingly also find the energy to assert ourselves and accomplish important tasks or make demands on others, who may find these unwelcome. Some of us may find ourselves in a well of lies and deceit and guilty consequences, perhaps self-imposed, or perhaps inflicted by others. Some people may exhibit a real lack of self-confidence and a strong inability to go after what they truly desire.
